Description

Flasks of superb plants with proper leaf and root growth; 10 plants filling my standard 750mL flasks. Very ready for deflask. Best grown like Cym canaliculatum where we use 45 to 60 cm lengths of 75 or 90 mm diameter PVC pipe as pots. It seems they need to make very long roots. We put a standard pot with drain holes at the bottom end fastened with self tapping screws then fill the pipe to within about 15 cm of the top then pot the suave seedlings as a community up in teased, moist, sphagnum moss and push that into the top of the pot and keep it moist to wet depending on the weather. They are introduced to strong light – about 30% shade – fertilised regularly, and are kept warm to hot in an unheated glass house that quickly warms up by day. After about a year, we remove the base pot and push the bark/moss mass out and repot each seedling into its own pvc pipe length. Once established, maintain a bright location but avoid too much watering during colder winter months.
